This varies by location. In our communities one in three families live paycheck to paycheck, which heightens need for supplemental food.

We recover/rescue surplus food, prepare nutritious meals, distribute groceries through pantries and mobile pantry trucks, and advocate for long-term hunger solutions.

We partner with local farms, grocery stores, restaurants, and commissaries to source farm-fresh and shelf-stable food.
How are meals or groceries distributed?
Through mobile pantry trucks, partner agencies, and direct home delivery services.

We serve anyone in need.

How can I volunteer?
You can sign up on our website to help with food recovery, food prep, distribution, events. No prior experience needed.
Can groups or companies volunteer together?
Yes! We welcome corporate groups, schools, and community organizations. Contact us at info@mealsonmainst.org to schedule a group experience
How can I donate food?
We accept donations of unopened, unexpired food at our headquarters facility – 509 N. Main Street, Port Chester, NY 10753 (please drop off between 8am and 3pm).
Are monetary donations more helpful than food donations?
Both help, but financial contributions go further by allowing us to transport food efficiently, and support general operations.

Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes, we are a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. You will receive a receipt for tax purposes.

We prioritize program delivery food recovery/rescue, logistics, and community outreach while maintaining a best-in-class low administrative overhead.

We track pounds of food recovered, meals served, volunteer engagements, and the number of individuals and families assisted.
